The Diluvial Vessels evoke something ancient, half sculpted, half grown, perhaps an artefact of some ancient flood. The heavy patina is built up in multiple stages whilst still retaining traces of the casting process.
Excavation cast in recycled pewter using a technique based on methods passed on from my grandfather, this more primitive form of excavation casting was developed specifically for the Diluvial Vessels; designed to leave open the possibility for random happy accidents as an essential part of the deeply textural surface it produces.
These vessels were first created as a dark and raw counterpoint to the light and refined forms of the alabaster Vault Vessels.
