In early photography of the moon we see a ghostly cratered sphere emerge out of the black vastness of space. Here the moon is applied to a wall screen, which takes influences from antique Japanese examples, in combination with the work of the Italian architect Carlo Scarpa.
This series of large wall-mounted screens are made in a variety of timbers, with the motif of a large rising moon or planet, captured in a volcanic glaze of burnt white gesso and pigments. Timbers include rusted Douglas Fir and fumed and pigmented French Walnut.
The panels are framed individually with a steel edging.
The panels are hung on a split batten / cleat system for easy installation and equal distribution of weight across the wall.
Custom options include: dimensions, composition, wood type and finish.
